Former West Coast star Daniel Kerr has been arrested after allegedly setting fire to a Kardinya home on Wednesday afternoon.

The Brownlow Medal runner-up, whose father Roger lives in the area, is alleged to have set fire to the house in Exley Close about 4pm, with Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel attending the scene shortly after.

WA Police said in a statement arson squad detectives had charged a man in relation to the house fire.

“About 4:10pm Police were advised of a house fire in Exley Close, Kardinya,” police said.

“Department of Fire and Emergency Services personnel were already responding to the fire at that time.

“A 37-year-old man, who is linked to the property, was arrested a short time later in Cottesloe ... and charged charged with criminal damage by fire.”
