Online shopping has turned the Black Friday sales centred around the Thanksgiving holiday period into a global scavenger hunt for the best buys, and Australians are expected to be elbowing their way into the event with increased enthusiasm following the lockdown restraints of COVID-19.

“You can expect people to be more excited and more experimental with their online purchases,” said Dr Kate Sala, School of Fashion and Textile, RMIT. “After lockdown people are far more literate with digital interfaces and far more confident with online shopping.”

With lockdown having lifted digital shopping skills, retailers are ready for greater interest in the Black Friday sales kicking off November 22.

Green Friday is drawing attention to brands with sustainable practices including dress rental service Glamcorner. Fashion label Nique will be taking part in Black Fridye, with the lifespan of pieces extended through discount dyeing from November 23.
